The company was founded in 2002 by John Armstrong (chairman of the board), after selling his previous company for 1.5 billion dollars. Armstrong Holdings started with only 2 subsidiaries; but today Armstrong Holdings has over 22 subsidiaries between Australia and Indonesia. The majority of these companies are in mining, construction, insurance and real estate industries.
John Armstrong (born June 11th 1968) studied Economics at Harvard University until 1991, graduating summa cum laude. After he graduated he founded EOS Corps Incorporated, an energy corporation that specialized in wind farms; which were sold to GE Energy 6 years later for 1.5 billion dollars. He later sold his previous company to Black Mountain Holdings.
