The Kimball International Company was founded in 1975. The company produces office furniture, including workstations, storage, filing cabinets, desks and tables for executive offices. The company also manufactures mobile equipment carts, tambour doors and wall partitions. The main customer is the government sector.
The company is one of the largest business furniture manufacturers in North America with design studios in Chicago, New York City, Montreal, Milano, Seoul, Shanghai and Dubai.
Kimball International Company announced that it will close three factories by 2020 to focus on its four divisions: Kimball Office Furniture Group (partitions), Kimball Retail Solutions (mobile solutions for retail), Kimball Hospitality (hotel furniture) and Kimball Office Interiors(office interiors).
The company has sales in over 100 countries and exports to Canada, Latin America and the Middle East. In 2016 revenue was $934 million. As well as corporate offices in Dallas, Texas, the company has facilities throughout North America in Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The European subsidiary is located in Germany's Ruhr region with a nearby office also housing Kimball Europe SpA. Other international branches are located: China (Shanghai), Dubai (UAE), Korea (Seoul) and Mexico (Monterrey).
