The Maxim Integrated Products Company is an American company that specializes in designing, manufacturing, and marketing analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs) worldwide. Maxim Integrated serves various end markets, including automotive, industrial and communications.
Maxim Integrated was founded in 1983 as the semiconductor arm of MAXIM Inc., a company formed by Mark E. Bloch in 1980 as a maker of power supplies for computer data storage products. In 1985, Bloch bought out two other shareholders and reincorporated it as Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. The name is both an acronym of his last name and a measure of success: "The maximum integration for the minimum investment."
