Oglethorpe Power Company (OPCO) is a member-owned and member-run electric power and generation cooperative based in Tucker, Georgia. OPCO was formed in 1933 following the passing of the Rural Electrification Act. The Rural Electrification Act created the Electric Membership Corporations to provide electricity to areas that were not being served by private companies. Today, OPCO currently services over 200 cooperative utility members through its service area which covers three million people across 59 counties in Georgia .
