Polaris Industries Company is a privately held company that manufactures and markets power sports equipment such as off-road vehicles, snowmobiles, motorcycles, and on-road electric/hybrid powered vehicles. The UTV (Utility Terrain Vehicle) division of the company was formed in 1995 after Polaris purchased Bombardier Recreational Products' ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) Division.
Polaris Industries began producing snowmobiles in 1959 and produced their first motorcycle in 1977. They became one of the largest sellers of snowmobiles by 1970. In 2009 they began the development of the Victory Motorcycles brand which has been successful due to its unique styling and engine designs.
In 2010 Polaris acquired Indian Motorcycle which helped fuel growth for the company. Polaris also acquired several smaller companies throughout the 2010's which have diversified their product line including GEM, Havelaar, and Arctic Cat in 2017

Their primary competitors in many areas of their market are Yamaha Motor Company Ltd. and Suzuki Motor Corporation in the in- and off-road vehicle market and Harley Davidson, Inc. in motorcycles.
