Value City is an American department store founded in 1929 by Joseph Segel. The first location was opened in Trenton, New Jersey on June 12 of that year. As of 2016 the company has 48 stores in fourteen states across the northeastern United States and still operates its original flagship store at Lawrenceville, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Value City also maintains honor shops within select Macy's stores under a 'shop-in-shops' concept. These shops exclusively sell items from specific designers such as Vera Wang, Kevin O'Brien and Calvin Klein (including sub-labels CK Jeans and Seven). This partnership with Macy's began August 2008.
